Combined four village map sheets on my phone in minutes
The editor worked perfectly on my phone. I uploaded the four adjacent survey sheets (S1, S2, S3, S4), aligned the edges where they meet, and exported a single print-ready map in minutes — no office visit and no surveyor needed. Best of all, the sheets stayed private on my phone the whole time. Simple, fast and accurate.
Joined my own FMB sheets in the editor — nothing to install
I downloaded my village map and FMB sketches and used the in-browser editor to join them myself. I just dragged each sheet onto the canvas and nudged the pieces with the arrow keys until the boundary lines lined up exactly. There was no software to install, and the maps never left my device. One payment covered the whole thing, and the export came out clean and sharp. Brilliant tool!
Got my combined FMB from home — no office visits needed
VillageMapJoiner made joining my land's FMB sketches really easy — I got the combined map from home without running to any office. When I asked for the old FMB, they clearly guided me that it's available at the District Collector office. Good service.
Incredible service for peace of mind!
I used this website to get a Joined FMB map, and the entire experience was seamless and fast. By combining individual sketches into one continuous view, it clearly illustrates how my property lines interact with adjacent plots. Having this definitive, highly accurate map leaves zero room for arguments and completely eliminates the risk of boundary disputes with neighbors. It is a fantastic platform that saves a lot of hassle—highly recommended!
What you can join
However many sheets it takes
There is no limit on the number of sheets, and they don't have to come from the same village.
Join two Survey numbers
Land recorded as two adjoining survey numbers has a sheet for each and neither shows the whole property. Put both on one canvas and the boundary they share lines up.
How it works →Join subdivisions of one Survey number
A survey number split between heirs or buyers is issued as a sheet per share. Bring the shares you need back together to see the parent parcel whole.
How it works →Show each share on one map
After a partition every share sits on its own sheet. Assemble them into a single map that shows who holds what, and how the shares sit against each other.
How it works →Prove a boundary against the next parcel
A boundary argument is about two survey numbers, and one sheet only ever shows one of them. Joined, the shared edge is visible in one drawing.
How it works →Join two villages
Land that crosses a village boundary needs FMB sketch / village map sheets from both sides. Place them side by side and the holding stops being two half-views.
How it works →Merge contiguous parcels for a layout
Several survey numbers bought together are one site on the ground and several sheets on paper. Join them into the single plan a layout, a valuer or an investor file needs.
How it works →Who uses it in Puducherry: Buyers, advocates and builders around Puducherry town, Villianur, Ozhukarai and Karaikal use it for the common case here: a plot made of several survey numbers or subdivisions, joined into one continuous map for a registration, a bank loan, a building approval or a boundary dispute.

Puducherry is four pieces of land that are not next to each other. Puducherry and Karaikal sit inside Tamil Nadu's geography, Mahé on the Kerala coast and Yanam beside Andhra Pradesh, and each region keeps its land records at its own taluk office. What they share is the survey: land is described by survey and subdivision number on an FMB sketch and a village map, drawn on the same pattern as neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
An FMB sketch covers one survey number, and a village map is drawn across several sheets. So a holding of three survey numbers is three FMB sketches, and a plot near a sheet edge comes out cut in half. Get every sheet from the taluk office or the Survey and Land Records department, then line them up along their shared boundaries in Village Map Joiner's in-browser editor. The sheets never leave your device.
Older deeds in Puducherry and Karaikal can cite survey numbers from before the re-survey, including numbers from the French period, which no longer match the current FMB. The correlation between old and new numbers is what reconciles them, and once you know the current numbers, joining their sketches into one map shows the holding as it stands today.

Puducherry land records & documents
What each Puducherry land document is, and how to get it from Puducherry land-records office before you join the sheets in the editor.
FMB sketch
The Field Measurement Book sketch for one survey number: its surveyed shape with the length of each boundary line and the subdivisions inside it. One sketch covers one number, so a plot made of several survey numbers or subdivisions needs several sketches joined to be seen whole.
How to get it: Ask the taluk office for your region, or the Survey and Land Records department, quoting taluk, revenue village and the current survey number. Check the government's current online services first, since what is published online changes.
Village map
The map of a whole revenue village, showing every survey number in relation to its neighbours, roads and water bodies. It is drawn across several sheets, and it is what you need when the question is where a plot sits rather than how big it is.
How to get it: From the Survey and Land Records department or the taluk office. Ask for every sheet your survey numbers fall on, not just the first, because the boundary you care about is often on the next one.
Patta and Chitta
The revenue record of who holds a survey number and how it is classified. It names the holder and gives the extent; it does not draw the land. Pair it with the FMB sketch to see the parcel the record describes.
How to get it: Issued by the revenue department through the taluk office for your region. Use the survey and subdivision numbers written here for every map request, so the sheets you get match the record.
Old and new survey number correlation
The table that maps each survey number in the old record to the number, or numbers, it became after the re-survey. Older deeds in Puducherry and Karaikal can cite numbers from before the re-survey, including French-period numbers, and this is what reconciles them with the current FMB.
How to get it: Ask the taluk office for the correlation for your revenue village, quoting the old number from the deed. Then request the FMB sketches for the new numbers it gives you.

FAQ
Questions people in Puducherry ask
- How do I get an FMB sketch in Puducherry (Pondicherry)?
- Note the region, taluk, revenue village and survey number exactly as your Patta or deed gives them, then ask the taluk office or the Survey and Land Records department for the FMB sketch of each survey number. What is available online changes, so check the current government services first. Then drag every sketch onto the Village Map Joiner canvas, align the shared boundaries and export one map.
- My deed has an old survey number. How do I find the new one?
- Ask the taluk office for the correlation between the old and new survey numbers for your village. It maps each number in the old record to the number, or numbers, it became after the re-survey. Use the new numbers for any FMB sketch or village map request, since the current sheets are keyed on them.
- Are Puducherry FMB sketches the same as Tamil Nadu's?
- They are drawn on the same pattern, one survey number per sketch with its boundary measurements, so they fit the editor in exactly the same way. They are issued by Puducherry's own departments, not Tamil Nadu's, and our done-for-you service covers Tamil Nadu only. In Puducherry you bring the sheets and join them yourself in the editor.
- Are my Puducherry land records uploaded anywhere?
- No. The editor renders, crops and joins the sheets entirely in your browser, so your survey numbers and Patta details never leave your device. Nothing is stored on a server.
