Bhu-Naksha (cadastral map)
The cadastral map of a revenue village, showing every plot with its boundaries and plot numbers. A village is served a sheet at a time, so a Khata whose plots sit near a sheet edge comes out cut — these are exactly the sheets you join back into one continuous map.
How to get it: Open bhunakshaodisha.nic.in, choose your district, tehsil and village, then select the plot numbers you need and download or print the sheet. Repeat for every sheet your holding spans, then bring them all into the editor.
RoR (Record of Rights)
The textual record for a Khata: the tenant's name, the plot numbers under it, the area of each, and the Kisam (land classification). It names the land and says who holds it; it does not draw it.
How to get it: Open bhulekh.ori.nic.in, pick district, tehsil and village, then search by Khatiyan number, plot number or tenant name. The copy shown online is for information; a certified copy comes from the tehsil office.
Kisam (land classification)
How the plot is classified in the record — Sarad, Bahal, Berna, Gharabari and so on — which is what decides the revenue payable and, in practice, what can legally be built or grown on it. It is a column on the RoR, not a separate document.
How to get it: Read it off the RoR for your plot on Bhulekh Odisha. Where a classification is being disputed or changed, the application goes to the tehsildar.
Mutation (Nama Jari)
The record of a transfer — sale, inheritance or partition — being entered against a Khata. Until mutation is complete the RoR still shows the previous tenant, which is what a buyer checking a plot number actually needs to know.
How to get it: Applied for through the tehsil office, with status trackable on the Bhulekh Odisha portal. Worth checking before you rely on a downloaded RoR for a purchase.
