How to get village map sheets in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu
Where the village map for a Silvassa, Daman or Diu survey number comes from, what to quote when you ask, and how to join the sheets into one map.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu is three districts that do not touch: Dadra and Nagar Haveli inland around Silvassa, Daman on the Gujarat coast, and Diu off Saurashtra. They have been one union territory since 2020, but each district keeps its own land records at its own Mamlatdar's office. So the first step is always knowing which district, and which office, your land is in.
What you are actually asking for
- Village map
- The map of a whole village, drawn across several sheets, showing every survey number in relation to its neighbours. This is what shows where a plot sits and what shape it has.
- Record of rights
- The revenue record of who holds each survey number. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli it is issued as the 7/12 extract. Not a map, but the source of the exact numbers every map request is keyed on.
- Survey number and subdivision
- The pair that identifies a parcel within a village. Survey numbers restart in each village, so the village name always goes with them.
Start with the record of rights
Before asking for any map, take the village, survey number and any subdivision from a current record of rights. If all you have is an old deed, check whether it describes the land by a current survey number at all. All three districts were Portuguese territory, Dadra and Nagar Haveli until 1954 and Daman and Diu until 1961, and some title chains still carry older descriptions. The Mamlatdar's office is where those get matched to today's numbers.
Getting the sheets
- Note the district and village exactly as the record of rights spells them, and list every survey number and subdivision the holding covers.
- Check the UT administration's current online services for land records. Where the map is not online, ask the Mamlatdar's office or the survey office for your district.
- Ask for every village map sheet your survey numbers fall on, not just the first. The boundary you care about is often on the next sheet.
- Check each sheet: the village name, the survey numbers, and that the edges are legible, because the edges are what you will line up.
Joining the sheets
Industrial and residential plots around Silvassa and Daman are often assembled from several survey numbers, and a holding near a sheet edge or a village boundary needs more than one sheet. Line the sheets up along the boundaries they share so the lines crossing each join continue, and you have one continuous map of the holding to print or send to a buyer, a bank or an advocate.

Check the UT administration's current online services first. Where the map is not online, the Mamlatdar's office for Dadra and Nagar Haveli, or the survey office, issues it against the village and survey number.
Do Daman and Diu use the same office as Silvassa?+
No. Each district keeps its own land records at its own Mamlatdar's office, so ask in the district where the land is.
How many sheets can I join into one map?+
There is no limit. Join two survey numbers or twenty, every sheet of a village, or sheets from two neighbouring villages. It is one canvas and one exported map.
