How to get the plot sketches for land in Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh has no state-wide cadastral map. The map of a plot is the sketch with its LPC or land allotment. Where to get it from the circle office, and how to join several into one plan.
Most land in Arunachal Pradesh is held under each tribe's customary law, by communities, clans and families, and no state-wide cadastral survey was ever made of it. There is no Bhu-Naksha to download. The map of a plot is the sketch prepared when it was recorded, usually with its Land Possession Certificate or with a land allotment.
What sketches a plot usually has
- LPC sketch
- The drawing prepared with a Land Possession Certificate, showing the plot's shape, measurements and neighbours.
- Allotment sketch
- In townships and on government land, the sketch attached to the Deputy Commissioner's allotment order.
- Neighbours' sketches
- Each adjoining plot has its own. Where the boundary is the question, you need theirs as well as yours.
Start with the circle
Land records in Arunachal Pradesh are kept circle by circle, under the Deputy Commissioner. Note the district, circle and village as your LPC or allotment order gives them, and the certificate or order number. That is what the circle office will ask for.
Getting the sketches
- Take the sketch from your own LPC or allotment order first. Scan or photograph it flat and in full, with any measurements along the edges.
- Ask the circle office for the sketch on record for your plot, and for the adjoining plots' sketches if the boundary matters.
- For township plots in and around Itanagar and Naharlagun, ask the Deputy Commissioner's office that made the allotment.
- Where the land has never been surveyed, the circle office can tell you how a survey is requested, usually with the Gaon Bura confirming the claim.
Joining the sketches
LPC sketches are drawn plot by plot, often years apart, so they do not share a neat sheet edge. Put them on one canvas, scale each against a measured boundary, and line them up along the edges they share. The joined plan shows a family's land whole, and where two sketches disagree about a boundary before it becomes a dispute.

Is there an online land map for Arunachal Pradesh?+
Not a state-wide one. Most land is held under customary tenure without a cadastral map series. The map of a plot is the sketch with its LPC or allotment, held by the circle office and the Deputy Commissioner's office.
Where do I get the sketch of my LPC plot?+
From the circle office for the area, quoting the district, circle, village and certificate number as the LPC gives them.
Can I join several plot sketches into one map?+
Yes. Scale each against a boundary you can measure and line them up along their shared edges on one canvas. There is no limit on how many go into one map.
