How to download a digital village map in Tamil Nadu
Stop queuing at the Taluk office — download your village map online from tnlandsurvey.tn.gov.in. Here's the step-by-step, the small fee, and what to do if it says 'Not Available'.
You no longer need to visit the Taluk office for a village map. The Commissionerate of Survey and Settlement publishes digital maps online — here's how to get yours.
FMB vs Village Map — know the difference
An FMB (Field Measurement Book) sketch shows a single plot — one survey number and its subdivisions. A village map shows the entire village, with every survey field stitched together. If you want the big picture, you need the village map, not just the FMB.
Download it from tnlandsurvey.tn.gov.in
- Open the Commissionerate of Survey and Settlement website at tnlandsurvey.tn.gov.in.
- Go to the "Buy / Download Maps" (Village Map) section.
- Select your District, Taluk and Village.
- Choose the village map, complete the payment, and download the sheets.
What it costs
FMB sketches are generally free on the e-Services portal, while a full digital village map carries a small fee — around ₹200 per village map. Always go by the price shown on the official portal at the time.
If the map says "Not Available"
Not every village is fully digitised yet. If your village map isn't available online, you can request it from the Central Survey Office at Chepauk, Chennai, or your district survey office.
Then join the sheets into one map
A village map usually downloads as several adjacent sheets. Upload them into Village Map Joiner, auto-arrange by sheet number, and export one continuous, high-resolution map — all in your browser.
